By default, one Brand Imagery setting (Logo + colors, Colors only, or Off) applies to every AI image in the article. Click "Set in-article images separately" to split the control, giving Featured Image and In-Article Images their own independent toggle, so you can put your logo on the card-worthy featured image without stamping it onto every in-article photo, or turn branding off entirely for a specific batch. A "Use the same for all images" link switches back to unified control at any time.

• External linking over-indexing on doi.org - Fixed the root cause: external linking search queries were hard-coded to a "research paper" category, and the one-link-per-domain rule was prompt-only with no code enforcement, letting the doi.org resolver front thousands of publishers and defeat deduplication. All three underlying issues have been corrected.
• Article generation failing with CONTENT_FILTER errors across multiple providers - Fixed. Generation no longer silently fails on safety-filter false positives, unblocking legitimate content that didn't actually violate any policy.

Planner:

• Horizontal scrollbar unreachable without scrolling to the bottom of the page - Fixed. A pinned, always-reachable horizontal scrollbar has been added to the Planner table, so hidden columns (Folder, Created by, Created at, Updated at) are accessible without an extra scroll-down step.
• Column filters re-filtering on every click instead of on "Apply" - Fixed. Selecting filter options in Planner columns like Generation Status no longer re-filters the table instantly after each click; changes now apply only when you confirm with an Apply action.

• AI-selected anchor text too long — Fixed. Internal and external link anchor text was often an entire clause or sentence fragment rather than a short, descriptive keyword phrase. Anchor text now follows standard best practice at 2–6 words, keeping links visually lighter and reading flow intact.
• Copywriter emitting model reasoning into article body and fabricating quotes attributed to real people — Fixed. Two defects found during Content Refresh were removing internal model reasoning text that was leaking into published articles, and preventing fabricated quotes from being attributed to real, named individuals.
• AI Insights analyzing a truncated slice of the page and reporting existing sections as missing — Fixed. GSC Opportunity AI Insights was reporting content as "missing" when it already existed on the page, which then flowed into auto-generated Content Refresh instructions telling the copywriter to add sections that were already present. Insights now analyze the full page content.

CMS & Publishing:

• "&" in article title becoming "&" after publishing to WordPress — Fixed a double-encoding issue where article titles containing an ampersand displayed the literal HTML entity instead of the character after publishing to WordPress.

API Keys & Integrations:

• Google Gemini API key validation rejecting new "AQ.A" key format — Fixed. Validation logic was rejecting Google's new Gemini key format (introduced in early June). All Gemini BYOK users can now save current-format keys.

🌍 Public Share Support for Article Outlines

Public share links now work for articles still in the outline stage (Two-Step flow), not just fully generated articles. The Share panel's link settings let you control what viewers can do (View only / Can comment) and what they see (Full article / Outline only), so you can share an outline with a client for approval before the full article is generated.

✍️ Paragraph Length Control

A new Paragraph Length control in Step 2 (Style) of the article wizard lets you choose Short (1–2 sentences), Medium (3–4 sentences), or Long (5+ sentences) prose density. The selected value is injected into the generation prompt, controlling paragraph structure across the full article.

🎓 Readability Level

Alongside Paragraph Length, a new Readability Level control (Basic, General, Professional, Expert) lets the AI calibrate sentence length, vocabulary, and explanation depth to match your target audience, without needing to specify this manually in custom instructions every time.

♻️ Content Refresh — CMS Sync & Restorable Version History

Refreshing an article that was originally published directly on your CMS (not through ContentPen) no longer creates a duplicate post.

ContentPen now resolves the article's source URL to the existing CMS post and updates it in place on re-publish, instead of creating a new one. This works via an opt-in publisher hook, with WordPress wired up first (matched by slug via the public WP REST API, with same-domain and permalink guards). Alongside this, every refresh now snapshots the original pre-refresh content into version history as v1, so you can always revert, even for content that was never generated in ContentPen.

Article Generation Quality:

• Excessive brand mentions — Fixed generated articles mentioning the workspace brand in nearly every paragraph regardless of relevance. Brand mentions are now contextually appropriate.
• Fabricated and irrelevant academic citations — Fixed a serious issue where generated articles included invented quotes attributed to real named individuals, citations with zero topical relevance, and citations in the wrong language. Citation sourcing is now filtered for topical and language relevance, and fabricated attributions are prevented.
• Numbers and prices written as words instead of numerals — Fixed. Prices, statistics, and data points are now written as numerals rather than spelled out, removing a manual correction step before publishing.
• Em dash overuse — Fixed excessive em dash usage, a well-known statistical signal of AI-generated writing. Generated articles now use commas, colons, semicolons, and parentheses the way human writers do, reserving em dashes for deliberate, sparing use.
• Incorrect tool pricing and plan information — Improved sourcing for pricing and plan details in generated articles. The pipeline now prioritizes fetching a tool's actual pricing page (including JS-rendered pages) over relying on stale LLM training data or generic SERP results.
• Ask AI inline content generation ignoring article structure and style — Fixed. Ask AI now receives the full article structure and formatting conventions as context, so inline content it generates (headings, sections) matches the existing article's style instead of introducing inconsistent formatting.

Formatting Controls:

• Bold and Italic applied despite being unchecked in wizard — Fixed. Unchecking Bold or Italic in Step 3 (Formatting) is now correctly respected during generation.
• Quotes appearing despite being unchecked, plus quality overhaul — Fixed the same opt-out bug for the Quotes option, and improved the quality of generated quotes when the option is enabled, removing outdated, generic, or unattributable quotes.
• Alt text appearing as duplicate visible text below images — Fixed an issue where image alt text was being duplicated as plain paragraph text in the article body, visible to readers if published.

GEO Score:

• "Fix with AI" placing Key Takeaways inside the Introduction instead of after it. The Key Takeaways block is now correctly inserted immediately after the Introduction ends, with a proper H3 heading.
• GEO "Fix with AI" degrading article quality. GEO fixes were being applied as isolated, per-parameter LLM calls with no awareness of each other or the article's established voice, producing fragmented patches. Fixes are now coordinated for consistency.
• GEO AI Fix causing hard cuts and disjointed insertions. Fixed content now blends naturally with surrounding paragraphs instead of reading as an abrupt tonal break.

SEO Score:

• SEO Score Panel showing 34% on a completely blank article — Fixed the underlying check-state logic. Skipped checks no longer count as passes, empty-content checks no longer fail prematurely, and category badges now reflect failing item counts rather than totals.
• External linking quality — domain-level links instead of deep, contextual links. External links now point to the specific relevant page or study rather than a domain homepage, with descriptive anchor text instead of defaulting to the brand name.

Topic Clusters & Keywords:

• Clustering producing too many small, weak clusters. A hard minimum of 4 keywords per cluster is now enforced, with automatic sub-threshold merging and a dedicated Ungrouped cluster for genuine orphan keywords.
• Pagination missing from Topic Clusters view. Topic Clusters now supports full pagination, matching the pattern already used in All Keywords, so all clusters are accessible regardless of dataset size.

AI Visibility:

• Top stats bar design and spacing overhaul — Improved visual hierarchy, spacing consistency, and layout of the Schedule, Credits, LLMs Tracked, and Active Prompts stat blocks.
• Duplicate tags across AI Visibility Prompts — Fixed existing duplicate tag data across workspaces and added a uniqueness constraint to prevent duplicate tag creation going forward.

Editor & Links:

• "Open in new tab" missing from Edit Link popup. The option now appears in both Add Link and Edit Link popups, so link behavior can be changed without deleting and recreating the link.
• Author and Categories dropdowns rendering behind Publish modal — Fixed a z-index issue causing these dropdowns to appear behind the modal.

Once set up, ContentPen takes over automatically: your logo and brand colors are injected into every image generated - featured images, in-article images, and infographics - with zero per-article configuration needed.

Infographics take this a step further, rendering directly from your article content with the correct template detected automatically based on content structure, branded with your logo and colors out of the box.

🖼️ Featured Image — Generation Method Selector

Choose exactly how your featured image is created, per article — with three modes:

• AI Generated — Auto-creates the image from your keyword, title, and brand colors. Pick from style options: Realistic, Infographic, Abstract, Cartoon, Flat Design, and more. Add optional guidance to steer the output (e.g. "dark and moody, wide landscape").
• Reference image — Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP (up to 5MB) and ContentPen generates an image that matches its style - not its content. Useful for maintaining a consistent visual feel across your blog.
• Custom prompt — Write the exact prompt yourself. Your prompt is used as-is to generate the featured image, giving you full creative control.

📊 Infographic Generation

You can now generate branded infographics directly with ContentPen - no design tools required.

Infographic is now available as a style option in both the Featured Image carousel and the In-Article Images carousel, alongside Realistic, Abstract, and Cartoon. Select it for either, and ContentPen auto-generates a branded infographic from your article content, with the correct template detected automatically based on content structure and placed in the most relevant section. Your logo and brand colors from Brand Imagery are applied automatically, no additional configuration is needed beyond selecting the tile.

🔍 Smart Media Library Matching

ContentPen can now check your media library during article generation and automatically use your uploaded images - tool screenshots, product UI captures, diagrams - in the right article sections instead of always generating new AI images.

Enable the toggle in the Media step of the article wizard. ContentPen will scan your library and place matched images in the editor after generation. Real, credible images where you have them - AI-generated images where you don't.

Newly uploaded images that haven't been tagged yet are automatically processed using AI vision to generate a description, which powers accurate section matching during future generations.

🔗 EmDash CMS Integration

ContentPen now integrates directly with EmDash, the headless CMS platform.

The Content Refresh flow has been significantly upgraded across three dimensions:

Fidelity layer — Imported assets: When you paste a URL to refresh, ContentPen now captures and preserves all page assets — meta title, meta description, images (with source URLs and alt text), publish date, and internal links. All captured assets are shown in a structured panel before you proceed, so the AI rewrites with full context and nothing is lost.

Review layer — Side-by-side comparison: Before you save, ContentPen now shows a full review screen comparing your original article against the refreshed version, with word count change, a visual diff (additions in green, removals in red), and a toggle between Unified and Split view. Review every change before committing, with the option to refresh again if needed.

New refresh mode — Research & Update: A third refresh mode is now available alongside Enhance Existing and Full Rewrite. Research & Update enriches your content with current data and updated information while keeping your existing structure intact - ideal for factual posts that need freshening without a full rewrite.

📱 Mobile Optimization

The ContentPen web app (app.contentpen.ai) is now fully responsive across all core screens.

Article Generation:

• YouTube video embed logic improved — ContentPen now first searches YouTube using the article's meta title to find the most relevant video for the whole article and embeds it after the introduction. Only falls back to heading-level search if no suitable article-level result is found.
• Conclusion heading generated in wrong language + prompt instructions leaking into output — Fixed. The conclusion heading is now generated in the correct article language, and internal LLM prompt instructions no longer appear in user-facing article output.
• Custom instructions with attached file not applied — Fixed an issue where a .docx file uploaded via Custom Instructions (containing interlink URLs and anchor texts) was not being passed to the generation pipeline. Custom instruction files are now correctly parsed and acted upon during generation.
• Chinese articles generated with single-byte punctuation — Fixed. Chinese articles now use correct double-byte fullwidth punctuation characters (， ；) instead of ASCII equivalents (, ;).

SEO Score Panel:

• Internal links showing 0 despite links being present — Fixed the internal link detection logic in the SEO Score panel. It now correctly counts links that are present in the article content.
• Image Alt Tags scoring 4/4 on articles with no images — Fixed a false positive where the Image Alt Tags check returned a full score on imageless articles. It now correctly scores 0 or returns N/A when no images are found.
• External Authority Links scoring 0 despite authoritative domains present — Expanded the authoritative domain recognition list beyond .gov and .edu. Links to recognized high-authority domains (including industry publications and research sources) are now correctly counted.

Presets:

• External linking settings and TOC sub-options not persisting — Fixed. External Linking toggle state, included/excluded domains, and TOC sub-options (List Style, Depth, Title) are now correctly saved to presets and applied when a preset is selected in the article wizard.
• Language and Target Country fields added to Presets — Language and Target Country can now be saved in a preset and are pre-populated in Step 1 (Basics) when the preset is applied. Removes recurring manual re-entry for workspaces that consistently create content in a specific language and country.

GEO Score:

• FAQ and Key Takeaways reported as missing despite being present — Fixed the section detection logic to recognize non-English equivalents of Key Takeaways and FAQ headings, including Chinese-language variants.

Content Refresh:

• "Network Error" on article refresh — Fixed. The Content Refresh flow no longer throws a network error when processing existing articles.
• Incorrect word count for Chinese articles causing "Article Too Short" warning — Fixed the word count calculation for Chinese-language content. The refresh flow no longer incorrectly reports Chinese articles as too short.

Authentication & Access:

• Login page flickering before the dashboard loads — Fixed the unwanted re-render of the login page between the loading state and the dashboard. The transition is now clean: login → spinner → dashboard.
• Onboarding blocked at GSC step with non-functional Skip — Fixed. Users who have no Google Search Console properties, or whose properties fail to load, can now successfully skip the GSC step and complete onboarding without being blocked.

Workspace & Notifications:

• Notifications from one workspace appearing in another — Fixed. Notifications (including article completion toasts) are now scoped to their originating workspace and will not appear while viewing a different workspace.

Ask AI:

• Ask AI not accessing full article details and metadata — Fixed. The Ask AI panel now receives the complete set of article details as structured context on every call, including SEO fields, meta title, meta description, and other metadata, and the complete article body.

Team member:

• fal.ai API key not accessible to team members — Fixed. A workspace owner's configured fal.ai API key is now correctly shared with and surfaced to all team members in the same workspace, removing the incorrect "fal.ai key required" warning in the article wizard.

Meta Description:

In the Article Creation Wizard (Media step): Choose from three embedding modes:

• AI-suggested video — ContentPen finds and places the most relevant YouTube video for your topic automatically. Optionally set preferred channels to prioritize.
• Add a specific video — Paste any YouTube URL and we'll embed it at the most contextually appropriate position.
• Videos from only my channel — Embed the most relevant video from your own YouTube channel. If no match is found, no video is added.

In the Article Editor: Use the slash command or toolbar menu to insert a Video block at any point in your article. The Video option now appears in the Insert menu alongside existing block types.

🗂️ Merge Topic Clusters & Move Keywords Between Clusters

Reorganize your keyword strategy without starting over.

• Merge Topic Clusters — Select multiple clusters and merge them into a single unified cluster directly from the Topic Clusters view.

• AI article generation ignoring user context on ambiguous keywords — Fixed an issue where user-defined context was not being passed to the generation pipeline when the article topic contained ambiguous or broad keywords, causing generic output. User context is now reliably applied.
• ContentStudio social sharing blocked — Fixed the "Article needs to be published for sharing to work" error blocking ContentStudio social sharing for articles that were already published. Sharing now triggers correctly.
• BYOK Straico key — article generation failure — Fixed a generation failure caused by max_tokens exceeding the provider model limit when using a Straico BYOK key. Generation requests are now properly bound to the model's supported token limit.
